claim a target. everyone secretly steers the same needle. don't get out-dueled.

How it works
First you secretly claim a target from a shared row — where you want the needle to finish. Then everyone steers: you're dealt 8 cards but only play 5, one face-down each round; all flip and the needle moves by the sum. After 5 rounds you score 10 − how far it landed from your target.
The twist: if another player secretly claimed the same target, you're in a DUEL — only the one holding the strongest left-over card wins it; the loser scores 0. So your 3 held-back cards steer the needle and are your duel weapon.

Here's your hand. You'll play 5 of these 8 and hold 3 back, so look at what you can actually steer with before you commit. Central targets are easy to reach but everyone wants them — claim one another player also grabbed and you'll duel (strongest held card wins, loser gets 0).
